There is a friendly buzz in the air - it is Harriet the Bumblebee! And she has captured the hearts of everyone with her smile and can do spirit.

Harriet's story begins with her struggle to overcome her fear of flying. With the help of her mother and the Queen bee she conquers that fear and soars! Harriet's world and adventures expand as she meets new friends on Mrs. Bishop's farm; together they all help to care for the farm. This includes Mrs. Bishop's grandson, Callum, who comes for the summer and discovers he has a superpower - he can talk to the animals.

Author, Karen Comer feels the stories are connecting with children for a few reasons. One, who doesn't love a cute bumblebee. But more importantly, Harriet represents every little child. She is full of hopes, dreams, fears, and lots of silliness. All her struggles, emotions, and victories are on display for children to learn from. And the stories are just plain fun, and interesting, think of a modern day Winnie the Pooh.

Second are the illustrations. Beautifully hand drawn by the talented Ana Liz Bourassa. They draw readers in and help them connect to the characters.

Third, children are loving the "Doodles & Dreams" activity journal, which is a bonus feature of every book. Where the reader learns more about themselves and the beautiful world around them. Making books a forever keepsake!

Parents and educators also value the underlying themes of the series. Friendship, teamwork, generosity, and taking care of animal habitat are a few examples. Pollination, instinct, metamorphosis, and migration were naturally woven into the storylines.

Karen believes that a great children's series shouldn't just entertain the reader, it should strengthen their reading skills! So she planned for the word count to increase with each book and for the font size to decrease every three books; which is represented by the different colors of the covers.

Books 1 - 3 have a yellow cover and a font size of 23;

books 4 - 6 have a green cover and a font size of 19;

books 7 -9 are not yet designed.

Vote for the background color of the next 3 books in the series:

Just released book #6

Crisis in the Chrysalis

Harriet thinks she knows everything there is to know about her best friend Grace; until one day Grace shares her secret – she used to be a caterpillar! Harriet learns what a chrysalis is and wants to go find one. So, Grace takes her to a special place. She lifts a leaf and reveals a hidden world – a butterfly nursery.  There, Harriet and Grace watch a monarch butterfly struggle to burst from its chrysalis.

Later that day, Mrs. Bishop’s grandson, Callum, learns that he can talk to the animals. His newfound superpower changes everything. He invites Harriet and Grace to join him for a campout and another evening of stargazing. As they sit around the campfire, he reveals his dream – to become an astronaut. Harriet wants to know if she can have a dream too. Callum tells her that everyone can have a dream!

This book will make you laugh, wonder, and dream!
